Healthy New Albany proudly hosts a variety of races annually, with the New Albany Walking Classic holding a cherished spot in our community for nearly two decades. But what sets these events apart from the rest?

These races transcend the ordinary; they are not just events but rather, they are a movement with a meaningful mission. Every stride taken in the Walking Classic resonates with a deep sense of purpose. All of the proceeds generated are funneled straight back into Healthy New Albany, powering essential health services that make a real difference in our community.

From our Food Pantry and Farmers Market to Programming for Older Adults, Community Cooking Classes, and Mental Health Initiatives—your participation helps us sustain and expand these vital programs. Join us in the race, make every step count, and become a part of something truly special!

    Winter Wonder 5k registration is now open! 

    Join Angela An from 10TV for a lively morning at the Winter Wonder 5K, starting and finishing at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany. Stick around post-race for the Community Health Fair, filled with vendors, health resources, and fun for the whole family. Can’t join us in person? Participate virtually from wherever you are!

    When we think of movement, our minds often jump straight to the typical gym scene: weights, treadmills, and exercise bikes. However, movement encompasses a much broader spectrum of activities, all contributing to our overall health and wellbeing. At Healthy New Albany, we are excited to guide you through the diverse world of movement, showcasing that there’s something for everyone.

    Defying Stereotypes: Lift Like a Girl

    ‘Lift Like a Girl’ is one of our proud offerings, challenging and redefining the stereotypes associated with young women in strength training. This class focuses on building strength in a supportive and empowering environment, teaching girls to believe in themselves and support each other. This program helps girls build muscles AND their confidence!

    Finding Balance and Peace: Yoga

    Yoga is a practice that has stood the test of time, offering a unique blend of physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation. Our yoga classes offer a variety of options – from Chair Yoga to Restorative Yoga and more – but all of these mindful movement programs will leave you feeling calm, relaxed, and restored as you move through the rest of your day!

    Embracing the Outdoors: Nature Hikes

    Movement isn’t confined to indoor spaces. Our nature hikes invite you to step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and explore the beauty of the natural world. These guided hikes are not only a great form of exercise but also offer the therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature.

    Letting Loose and Having Fun: Dancing

    Dancing is a joyful expression of movement that comes in many styles and forms. We have offered a variety of dance options, like “Diversity thru Movement” and “Dancing thru the Decades” and in January we’re starting a new blended program called “World Rhythm’s Fitness”. Whether you’re dancing at one of our classes or at home in your own kitchen, dance is a great way to get your body moving, your heart pumping, and your spirit soaring.
