Referring to C.A.R.E…”it’s helped me manage my stress and be more patient working on my recovery.” Jay has been attending CARE (Compassionate Addiction Recovery Experience) classes for about 6 months, offered at no charge through Healthy New Albany. “Having another resource outside of my clinical care has made all the difference this time.”

“My family came to New Albany, from Miami, looking for a dream… The food pantry has helped each member of my family through food, annual school supplies, English language courses, (access to) cheerleader and soccer classes. Finally, today, we managed to buy our own house, and our dream came true! We attest to the great effort of the Healthy New Albany Food Pantry to encourage each family to achieve their goals.”

“Ms. Molly and her nature team have created fun and engaging classes that help instill a lifelong love, appreciation, and stewardship of the outdoors.”
“I love Healthy New Albany programming and cannot thank you enough for all that you do!”
“I look forward to The Healthy New Albany Farmers Market every summer,” says senior neighbor Alma. “I see friends and neighbors, pick up fresh produce, baked goods, and often recipes. With local entertainment every week, the market is a community event AND a place to shop.”
“I am so grateful to you (food pantry) who make my learning at Rosetta Stone possible. …I still have a long way to go to be able to speak fluently but every day I learn something new.. I have been able to communicate with short phrases at work since my boss is American and does not speak Spanish… Grateful!”
“It is so great to have a program where kids get to be outside while also learning, and with trusted adults who are energetic and excited about nature.”
“Great panel of experts… all of the (Community Health Talk) topics were very relevant and interesting.”
Carlos and Conversations Partners volunteer David met at a pantry event and hit it off, deciding to also become conversation partners. “We use zoom, as face-to-face communication is invaluable as we work through translations and new words.” Carlos and David enjoy talking about deep topics, where simple words aren’t always appropriate. These conversations help broaden Carlos’ vocabulary as he searches for the correct words to express things. A life coach, David is helping Carlos with his pilot's license and other tools/resources to support his family’s business. “I’m inspired, Carlos is extraordinary!” exclaimed David.
Conversation Partners (an extension of HNA’s English Language Learner’s program) connected Carlos and I through common interests.” noted volunteer Mary Angela, “We meet 1-2 times weekly through Zoom, getting to know each other’s families, discussing our lives over the past 3 years.” Mary helped Carlos and his wife establish an LLC small business selling cookware, with Carlos and his family joining Mary at her home at the beginning of every December for red sauce cooking. “Where else would a food service director and a Venezuelan search and rescue operator become friends?” laughed Mary.
"My daughter Madison has been attending Healthy New Albany nature classes for 3+ years, loving every adventure. A toddler who used to be afraid of flies now sits and watches bees pollinating flowers, excitedly spots stick bugs among leaf litter, and rescues toads from the middle of the road. Our family sees how much joy these classes bring her, along with an awareness of how important it is to take a step back and enjoy all the little things in nature that might otherwise be missed.” Hilary R."
