Programs & Events

Healthy New Albany offers a wide variety of classes, community programs, and events – all about enjoying life while improving health! Our programs are open to everyone (no residency or membership restrictions).

Some of our programs are one-time events and some are a series of classes on a specific day and time for a set number of weeks. Rest assured we are taking all necessary health and safety precautions including adequate social distance in each program or event. Many of our offerings take place outdoors, while others take place in our spaces at the Philip Heit Center or at a beautiful property on Avis Rd. The Philip Heit Center is equipped with an HVAC system that meets the strict compliance standards for air flow and filtration required by The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are confident that we can safely welcome you indoors for our programs and events.

Nature Programs

Toddlers in Nature

Toddlers in Nature

Wednesdays at 10 am

Toddlers in Nature is a sensory-based class designed for toddlers (18-36 months) and their parents/caregivers, offered on Wednesday mornings. Classes incorporate seasonal nature experiences with early child development.

World of Wonder (for ages 3-5)

World of Wonder (for ages 3-5)

Tuesdays at 10 am

Join instructor Molly Scott for outdoor adventures in Rose Run Park (and surrounding community). World of Wonder (WOW) nature classes are designed for children ages 3 – 5 (and their adults) to explore and connect with nature through movement, sensory play and activities.

Our Seasonal Hikes are offered to celebrate the amazing transitions from season to season. We will explore our local world, looking at nature and history relating to the season. As we look deeper into the transitions of seasons we will hike (generally 3-5 miles) locally, observe and explore nature through history and legends.

Trash or Treat: Community Cleanup Event!

Saturday, October 30th at 10 am

Join Healthy New Albany for “Trash or Treat” – a Halloween-themed Community Cleanup day!! Let’s get rid of any TRASH in our outdoor parks so we can enjoy our community spaces for the TREAT they are! This is a great opportunity to both clean up and connect with our local parks and walking areas.

Join instructor, chef, and NAFP Culinary Education Lead, Eileen Pewitt for a variety of cooking classes suitable for all. Proceeds from each Nourish The Pantry class are directly allocated to the New Albany Food Pantry.

Nourish: Homeschool - The Science of Ice Cream

Tuesday, October 5th at 1 pm

Join instructor Eileen Pewitt for an introduction to Homeschool educational experiences at Healthy New Albany. In this Nourish culinary class, “The Science of Ice Cream,” 4th – 6th grade students, and their adults, will learn some basic science behind one of our favorite treats – ice cream! We will all scream for ice cream in hand made cones and with fruit skewers.

Move Better for Life

Mondays 10/4-11/15 at 5:30 pm

Physical therapist-led strength fitness class designed for those age 55+. In-person and virtual options are both available.

Lift Like a Girl

Lift Like a Girl

Tuesdays 10/5-11/4 at 3 pm

Lift Like a Girl – strength + conditioning for teens. During this 5-week program (10 sessions) Beth Morrison will teach girls in grades 7 – 12 the fundamentals of strength and conditioning while increasing physical fitness for functional and athletic performance. 

FREE Skin Cancer Checks

FREE Skin Cancer Checks

Wednesday 10/6 6-7:30 pm

Join OSU Dermatologists for a quick head to toe skin check to look for suspicious lesions. It’s hard to check your own head and back, so let us do the work for you! Skin checks will be held at OSU Dermatology at the new OSU Outpatient building. Simply register online for the event, and then an HNA staff member will reach out to you via email to schedule you.

Restorative Energy Flow at Instill Wellness

Saturday, November 13th from 4-5:30 pm

Restore and balance the flow of energy through the ancient healing practices of yoga and acupuncture with Lori Bower and Michelle Sauberzweig. Experience a sense of well-being, peace and calm as we move through a practice based on the principles of The Energy Codes, by Dr. Sue Morter. We will explore embodiment practices of healing breath work, heart expanding meditations, movement and restorative postures that will help shift your energy.

Join Kathy Campbell in our Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention series, developed by Dr. Paul Lam and has been endorsed by the American Arthritis Association. Tai Chi improves balance, both mentally and physically, and significantly reduces the rate of falls in older adults.

Urban Zen is a blend of gentle movements, restorative yoga poses, breath practices, aromatherapy, and guided meditation leaving you feeling calm, relaxed, and revitalized. Open to everyone – no yoga experience necessary.

Come move through a variety of gentle yoga poses, using a chair! Jane Rabe will lead you through seated and standing poses that use the support of a chair to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. Chair Yoga is a gentle class and suitable for adults of any age or fitness level.
