Programs & Events
Healthy New Albany offers a wide variety of classes, community programs, and events – all about enjoying life while improving health! Our programs are open to everyone (no residency or membership restrictions).
Some of our programs are one-time events and some are a series of classes on a specific day and time for a set number of weeks. Rest assured we are taking all necessary health and safety precautions including adequate social distance in each program or event. Many of our offerings take place outdoors, while others take place in our spaces at the Philip Heit Center or at a beautiful property on Avis Rd. The Philip Heit Center is equipped with an HVAC system that meets the strict compliance standards for air flow and filtration required by The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are confident that we can safely welcome you indoors for our programs and events.

World of Wonder: Nature Classes for Preschoolers
2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month through December
Join instructor Molly Scott for outdoor adventures in Rose Run Park. These classes are designed for children ages 3 – 5 to explore and connect with nature through movement, sensory play and seasonal activities.

Mindful Nature Walks
1st & 3rd Tuesday of the Month through December
Rejuvenate yourself with mindful nature walks. Deepen your connection with nature while walking in a slow relaxed way, quieting the mind and engaging your senses. Free to attend. Pre-registration required.
Tuesdays 10:30-11:30am &
Come move through a variety of gentle yoga poses, using a chair! Jane Rabe will lead you through seated and standing poses that use the support of a chair to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. This class also includes breathing practices to encourage relaxation and mindfulness. Chair Yoga is a gentle class and suitable for adults of any age or fitness level.

Lunch & Learn: Understanding Social Determinants of Health
Wednesday, November 11th, 12-1:30 pm
Listen virtually to an informative panel discussion on how diverse social and physical environments play a role in the overall health in OUR community. (coordinated by the New Albany Food Pantry)
Join our experienced instructor, Lori Bower, as she guides you through yoga fundamentals and breathing exercises to promote relaxation and improve flexibility and stability. This is a multi-level yoga class and modifications will be made so everyone can participate.
HNA Senior Connections: Tech Tutorial with Generation Connect
Tuesday November 17th, 3pm or 4pm
Do you ever wish you had your very own teenager to show you tips and tricks on how to use your smart phone or other devices to better connect with family and friends? Well now you can!!
Generation Connection, a group of tech-savvy students from New Albany High School, will lead a “Tech Tutorial” focused on Zoom and Facebook. We’ll start off with a group presentation, then break out into one-on-one sessions with a Generation Connection student.
Join us for an hour of relaxing and restoring for anyone feeling anxious, stressed, or exhausted. Urban Zen is a blend of gentle movements, restorative yoga poses, breath practices, aromatherapy, and guided meditation leaving you feeling calm, relaxed, and revitalized. Open to everyone – no yoga experience necessary. Instructed by Lori Bower.

Energy Codes Workshop

Have you ever heard of Friluftsliv? It is a Norwegian word and way of life that means “open air living”. This year has provided many challenges, but also an incredible opportunity for more people to get outside and connect with nature. Join us and find out how Friluftsliv inspired the creation of new outdoor classes at Healthy New Albany for every season of the year.
We will be taking a short walk through Rose Run park after a brief indoor presentation.

"Om" for the Holidays
Tuesday, December 8th, 6:30 - 8:00pm
Join our experienced instructor, Lori Bower, for a calming Urban Zen practice. The practice will begin with the soothing sounds of nature provided by Jolyn Gallagher (Music Therapist). Allow the rhythmic sounds of nature to promote relaxation and bring you into a reflective state. Then journey through restorative yoga postures, breath work, meditation and essential oils to invite space and clearing within to balance your mind, body and spirit. Open to everyone – no yoga experience necessary.
Athleta Pop-Up Shop
Tuesday, December 8th, 4:00 - 6:00pm
We are bringing Athleta to HNA on Tuesday, December 8th and invite you to join us! Come for a socially distanced shopping experience and get a sneak peak of the newly released hiking line from Athleta!
No registration needed to shop. There will be a limited number of shoppers allowed at a time in order to maintain safe social distancing standards.
Celebration of Lights Walk
Saturday, December 12th, 5:00 - 6:00pm
Together, let us revel in the awe and magic that the lights of this time of year bring during this mindful and meaningful walk. Before making our way through the festive, sparkling Market Square we’ll begin gathered at Rose Run Park to hear from our insightful instructors, Molly Scott and Lori Bower about how the special symbol of light unifies us and we’ll participate in a short meditation practice.
Winter Solstice Celebration
Monday, December 21st, 5:00 - 6:30pm
Align with the rhythms of nature as we celebrate the hibernal solstice. December 21st marks the official beginning of winter and is the perfect time to welcome in the season with stillness, reflection and turning inward. Join Lori Bower in honoring the longest night and shortest day of the year by gathering around a bonfire for an intention setting ceremony followed by a candlelit walking meditation. Our evening will conclude with partaking in a special cacao meditation that will warm and open our hearts to the new year ahead.
