If you’re wondering what tai chi actually is, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Sometimes referred to as “moving meditation”, Tai Chi (pronounced tie-chee), is a martial art that uses a series of slow, flowing exercises that combine movement with breathwork and meditation. Since this workout is low impact, it is an ideal exercise routine for all ages. But that’s not the only reason we are such huge fans of this practice.
What are the benefits of practicing Tai Chi?
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are some significant benefits to practicing Tai Chi on a regular basis, including:
Decreased stress, anxiety, and depression.
Improved mood.
Improved aerobic capacity.
Increased energy and stamina.
Improved flexibility, balance, and agility.
Improved muscle strength and definition.
Study the Principles of Tai Chi with HNA
This spring, we are bringing back our popular class “Principles of Tai Chi”, taught by Nathan Menaged, in a virtual setting.
Nathan has a relaxed teaching style that is down-to-earth and easy to understand. He has more than twenty years of teaching experience and has been conducting workshops in the U.S. and Europe for the past fifteen years.
Throughout the class, using the Tai Chi principles, you will experiment with various postures and body shapes in an effort to find relaxed but structurally sound ways of standing, sitting, and moving that use only the muscles needed for the job and allow the
rest of the body to relax. You will practice ways of opening up the body,
loosening the joints, and allowing the body to gently soften. And you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.
The last time this class was offered here at HNA, it was a huge hit and spots filled up fast.
