Community Garden at Taylor Farm Park

Healthy New Albany’s community garden at Taylor Farm Park is more than just a place to grow produce. It’s a thriving example of how shared spaces can cultivate wellness, foster sustainability, and bring people together.

Operated by Healthy New Albany in partnership with the City of New Albany, the Dr. Glyde Marsh Memorial Garden reflects our community’s commitment to cultivating healthy living. The garden is designed as a welcoming space for everyone to visit and enjoy, while a limited number of gardeners maintain individual plots throughout the growing season.

2026 will mark the second growing season at Taylor Farm Park, but community gardening in New Albany has deep roots. What began in 2011 as 25 volunteers building 16 plots behind the Village Hall has grown into an intentionally designed garden with more than five times as many plots. Today, the space includes raised beds for more accessible gardening, wide paths, and seating throughout the garden to encourage rest, reflection, and connection in nature.

About the Garden
The Dr. Glyde Marsh Memorial Garden is designed to be welcoming and usable to all community members, regardless of age or mobility level. It features:

  • 86 rentable garden plots, including three ADA-accessible raised beds
  • Tool shed with shared gardening tools
  • Public restrooms and an eco-friendly water refill station
  • Ample sunlight, water access at each plot, and nearby shaded seating
  • An onsite apiary to support pollination and local ecosystems

Visiting Us
The community garden is open for everyone to explore and enjoy.  As you visit, we ask that you help us care for the space by keeping a few things in mind:

  • Please do not pick from any garden plots that are not your own. We encourage you to admire the hard work—but leave harvesting flowers and produce for the gardener.

  • Stay on the garden paths. This helps protect young plants and keeps the garden beds healthy.

  • If you’re visiting with pets, please keep them on leash and outside the garden plots. Even curious noses and paws can cause unintended damage to delicate plants.

With your help, the community garden remains a welcoming place rooted in respect, wellness, and care for one another.

Renting a Plot

Registration for the 2026 growing season will open to the public on Sunday, February 1st at 8 AM.

Volunteer in the Garden

Want to get your hands in the dirt and support our growing community? Volunteering at the community garden is a great way to connect with nature, contribute to sustainability, and help care for a space that brings so many people joy.

Volunteer opportunities typically include helping to water garden plots, pulling weeds from the pathways, and completing simple garden upkeep tasks.

Whether you’re looking to earn service hours or just enjoy a quiet afternoon outdoors, we’d love to have you.

We encourage everyone to meet your fellow neighbors and gardners, enjoy the fresh air, and get your hands dirty this year!
