SUMMARY:Music Together | Spring Session (9:30)
DESCRIPTION:Program Description:\nMusic is fundamental to the human experience and there are a variety of studies which indicate that music can enhance our health. So Healthy New Albany loves including “Music Together®” as part of our community programs\, as it provides another opportunity to cultivate and inspire healthy living in our community. \nThese weekly\, 45-minute mixed-age family classes include songs\, rhythmic chants\, movement\, instrument play\, and of course lots of fun! These activities are presented as informal\, non-performance-oriented musical experiences- developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers\, regardless of their own musical ability. \nEach week\, a trained Music Together teacher leads the class in singing\, dancing\, and playing songs that range from tender lullabies to boisterous jams using child-friendly percussion instruments. Our award-winning music\, illustrated songbook\, and other print and online resources will help you continue the music-making fun at home and nurture your child’s musical growth—even if you don’t think of yourself as a great singer or dancer. Like parenting\, making music requires no previous experience or expertise\, just a willingness to get down on the floor and get silly with your child! \nIncluded in registration: a CD\, an MP3 downloadable version of the song collection\, a Songbook\, a new family music development booklet\, a Music Together growth chart\, access to the Music Together Family Music Zone\, and the free Hello Everybody app! \nAges:\n• 9mn – 6 years-old (accompanied by an adult) \nLocation:\n• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St. New Albany\, OH)\n• Conference Room on the first floor \nSchedule:\n• Tuesdays | 9:30 – 10:15 am\n• March 17 – May 19 (9-week series)\n*No class on March 31 \nRegistration Info:\n• $195 for initial child\n• $110 for additional child\n(registration fee includes all supplies) \nAbout the Instructor:\nNicole White comes from a long line of teachers that not only value education but believe ALL children can learn. She has a B.S. in elementary education and a M.Ed. in Reading education. Nicole holds special certifications in reading and working with dyslexic students and has worked with students from preschool through the university setting. She enjoys combining her love of music with her passion for education to create an inviting musical learning environment for your family! \nAs a stay at home mama Nicole has experienced first-hand the joy and delight that Music Together® offers by taking her own children. After her first free demo in a baby store she quickly obtained her Music Together training\, became a registered teacher and had her family participating in class. She found it such a support for when she decided to stay home with her first child. Quitting a full time job to stay home can be an isolating decision and she needed a connection. As Nicole went to class every week she knew she was providing her child with a quality class and would get to connect with other parents. Sometimes just having a conversation with another adult was so encouraging. \nClasses are such an inspiring place for families to interact. Nicole counts it a blessing every semester that she teaches that families allow her to be a part of the memories they make with each other! \nTo learn more about Nicole and the Wholey Sisters Music Together group\, check out their website: wholeysisters.com. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Garden-to-Apothecary: The Basics of Herbalism
DESCRIPTION:Have a garden full of herbs and no idea what to do with them? Want a clearer\, more grounded understanding of natural health—and how people actually use plants to support overall well-being? This beginner-friendly series is a gentle on-ramp for complete newbies\, gardeners\, and wellness-curious folks who want practical skills without overwhelm. Across four one-hour classes\, you’ll learn how to harvest\, dry\, and store herbs with confidence\, then turn them into simple\, approachable preparations—starting with teas that truly work and easy home topicals. Each class stands alone\, so you can drop in for one or take all four\, and together they build a practical foundation you’ll actually use at home. \nClass 1: Garden to Herbalist: The Beginner’s Map\nWhat is herbalism\, really—and how do you start in a way that feels safe\, simple\, and doable? We’ll cover the basic language of herbal traditions\, common ways herbs are prepared and used\, and a clear roadmap for building small wellness habits you can actually keep. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of next steps and how to work thoughtfully with plants you already enjoy—or are curious to explore. \nClass 2: Harvest Smart: Drying\, Storing\, and Keeping Your Herbs Potent\nTurn fresh herbs into well-preserved\, usable ingredients for future projects. This session covers when and how to harvest\, simple home-drying methods\, and practical storage and labeling techniques to help maintain quality over time. We’ll also review essential safety considerations\, including general cautions\, thoughtful use around children\, and when it’s best to pause or seek guidance from a qualified professional. \nClass 3: Tea That Works: Infusions\, Decoctions\, and Daily Herbal Rituals\nTea is often the easiest entry point into herbal practice—but there’s a big difference between tea that tastes only tasty and tea that actually supports the body. You’ll learn when to use an infusion versus a decoction\, how to make it taste good\, and how to build simple routines for common goals like digestion comfort\, seasonal support\, and winding down. You’ll leave with repeatable methods you can use with what you grow\, buy\, or already have in your pantry. \nClass 4: Your First Remedy Jar: Infused Oils and Simple Topicals\nWe’ll step beyond tea into the most beginner-friendly herbal preparation: infused oils and simple topical use. You’ll learn how to start an herbal oil infusion at home\, how to use topicals safely and effectively\, and a few easy culinary\, nutrition-forward ways to use garden herbs day to day so your harvest supports both nourishment and wellness. We’ll also outline a clear “what’s next” path\, if you want to continue learning. \nSchedule:\n• Wednesdays | April 8- 29\, 2026\n• 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm \nFee:\n• $125 for 4 week series\n• $35 per class if registered individually \nLocation:\n• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St. New Albany\, OH)\n• Conference Room on the first floor \nAbout the Instructor:\nBrandon Elijah Scott is a community herbalist and herbal educator\, and the owner of Woodland Herbal—a family-run apothecary rooted in more than four generations of plant wisdom—where he crafts remedies and supports people in natural health and wellness with grounded\, everyday herbal care.
